Anjail Rashida Ahmad - Award Winning Poet, Educator and Activist
Poetry:
Anjail Rashida Ahmad uses experiences from childhood and the broader connections with family and history to inform many of her poems. Raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and coming from a musical family, her poems often reflect fresh descriptions, sensual, musical language inflected with urban themes and bluesy-jazz rhythms. As a result of her recent blindness, she has learned to combine her literary poetic style with the dynamism of spoken word to deliver vibrant and moving poetry performances. With poems related to blindness and disability, Ahmad evidences a vivid candor that bridges the gulf between the worlds of the sighted and the blind.
